About Venus Alexandria
Author, girls empowerment coach and activist, motivational speaker, award-winning philanthropist and woman of God, Venus Alexandria Ferguson is a true role model.
As the founder of Keep Rising! Empowerment Summit for Girls, a one-day empowerment summit for girls 11-18 being a positive role model is a priority. At the summit, girls attend dynamic workshops that teach them about mental health, self-esteem, financial literacy and goal-setting among other topics. Since the creation of Keep Rising! in 2015, Alexandria has inspired hundreds of girls to live their best lives.
As an author of her first book, The Power Within Me: A Keep Rising Girls’ Guide to Loving Herself, Alexandria encourages girls to connect with their inner feelings as well as provide them with strategies on how to increase their self-esteem.
For more than 15 years, Alexandria has worked in the communications field. Formerly, she served as the branding and marketing specialist for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools where she assisted more than 100 schools with developing strategic marketing campaigns.
As the communications officer for North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company, the country’s oldest and largest African-American life insurance company. Alexandria created an executed media relations campaigns for Tavis Smiley, Ambassador Carol Moseley Braun, Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, Dr. Johnnetta B. Cole, and Marc Morial among others.
After launching her own strategic communications firm, Keep Rising Media Group, she has planned and executed intimate events of 50 people to upwards of more than 10,000 people.
As a public relations practitioner, Alexandria was able to get her clients exposure in several national publications including but not limited to: Black Enterprise, Ebony, National Underwriter and JET. Alexandria has also been able to get her clients additional exposure in countless local and regional magazines, newspapers, television stations and radio shows.
As a motivational speaker, Alexandria has served on several panels and delivered keynote addresses for many corporations, colleges and universities, non-profit organizations and churches including but not limited to: Winston-Salem State University, Wake Forest University, University for North Carolina at Charlotte, North Carolina Central University, North Carolina State University, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, IBM, Northeast Medical Center, Virginia Union University, Black MBA’s Raleigh-Durham Chapter, National Association of Black Engineers and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Youth Conference. She has appeared as a motivational speaker at Motivational Mondays with Les Brown and Anita Hicks.
Alexandria is a graduate of Winston-Salem State University with a bachelor of arts degree in Mass Communications, Hood Theological Seminary with a Master’s in Divinity degree and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration degree. She is the co-founder of the Alex and Alston Dreamers Scholarship Fund where one deserving high school senior is awarded a $500 college scholarship. Alexandria is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
